The procedures you must go through when you arrive in England from overseas depends on where you have been in the ten days leading up to your arrival.

Red list countries and territories

If you have visited a country or territory on the red list in the last 10 days, you will not be allowed to enter the UK unless you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK.

Even if you are vaccinated, you must still follow these regulations.

Even if you only transit through a red list country or territory in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you are subject to red list rules.

Before traveling to England; take a COVID-19 test, book a quarantine hotel package, including 2 COVID-19 tests and complete a passenger locator form. 

On arrival in England; quarantine in a managed hotel, including 2 COVID-19 tests.

It is not recommended for you to travel to red list countries or territories.

Amber list countries and territories

The government will no longer advise against travel to amber list nations as of 4 a.m. on Monday, July 19.

People who have been completely vaccinated with an NHS vaccination who are subject to the amber list regulations will not be required to quarantine upon their arrival or have a COVID-19 test on the 8th day of their arrival in England.

France – important information The changes to the amber list rule for fully UK vaccinated people will not apply to France. If you have been in France in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you must quarantine for 10 days on arrival in England and take day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests.

You are still covered by these rules even if you are vaccinated until July 19th.

It is not recommended for you to travel to red list countries or territories.

The amber list is not detailed. It is not right to assume that a country is listed as green or red if that country is not on this list. You can not be sure unless the country or territory appears on the green or red list.

If you transit through a red list country or territory in the 10 days before your arrival in England, you must follow amber list rules.
